Seven years after the release of the Commission’s National Blueprint for Biodefense, the Nation remains critically unprepared for future biological events, which threaten to strain resources and impact government efforts to address threats like COVID-19. At this meeting, the Commission intends to further explore challenges for biodefense response, recovery, and mitigation capabilities at all levels of government and the private sector.

LOCATION: 2000 Florida Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20009. This is the home of the American Geophysical Union (AGU).
START TIME: 11am
TRANSIT: The nearest metro stop is Dupont Circle, on the Red Line; AGU is about 3 blocks north of the station.
PARKING: The most convenient parking garage is the Universal Building and is accessible from two points: (1) Universal North, accessed from T Street, NW, across from the side entrance of the Hilton Washington, and (2) Universal South, accessed from Florida Avenue, NW, across from the front entrance of AGU. There is also a very small PMI garage around the corner from AGU, at 2001 S Street; space is limited. There is some street parking – be aware of meters or residential restrictions.
COVID PRECAUTIONS: AGU requires that only fully vaccinated people or those with a negative COVID test within 24 hours of the event date attend in-person events at the AGU Conference Center. AGU requires the following COVID precautions for entry into the building:
- Upon arrival, each guest will be asked to conduct a temperature self-check
- Each guest must present proof of full vaccination (photos are fine), or a negative COVID test, approved by a government health authority, within 24 hours of the event date
- Each guest will be asked to sign a waiver
